Camp Opportunity Survey

There are 600 acres in Iredell County that will soon become the newest addition to the Girl Scout properties in western North Carolina. Girl Scouts, Hornets’ Nest council is in the process of selling its existing camps to purchase 600 acres of undeveloped land, but in 2009 it will become the property of the new, merged western North Carolina council, belonging to and serving all the girls in the region. Girl Scouts Science Camp Sleepover at Carowinds


Bring physics and math to life during the Girl Scouts Science Camp at Carowinds in Charlotte. Be on hand as trained personnel teach the girls Carowinds Formula for Fun! Math + Science + Knowledge x Lifelong Learning Skills = An Exciting Future with Endless Possibilities.
The event, sponsored by Girl Scouts of Eastern South Carolina, is set for September 19-20. However, space is limited for the campout, so purchase your tickets early! To learn more, download this flyer.

The Girl Scout University event is for troops with girls ages 11-17 who would like to learn new things, hang out with older Girl Scouts from across the state and enjoy a weekend at Camp Pisgah. We have an exciting line-up of classes that each girl in your troop can individually register for. We have once again teamed up with a student organization from Western Carolina University and most classes will be lead by the women from this group. North Carolina Outward Bound

Girl Scouts of WNC ages 14-18 may now sign up for the North Carolina Outward Bound program. Outward Bound maintains three base camps in Western North Carolina. The school uses camping, orienteering, rock climbing, whitewater canoeing and other outdoor experiences to teach resourcefulness, group cooperation, leadership, and personal self-confidence. Support Our Troops Patch -- NEW


What:
The "Support Our Troops" Council patch created by Colleen Mulonet, Troop 124, Girl Scouts Wagon Wheel Council. This patch program is for all age levels.

Purpose: To help celebrate and show our support for our troops. Once
completed, patches can be purchased at the Council Shop. Patches are $1.50 each plus tax.To learn more, click here.

The Training Department issues a challenge to all the Service Units to have 100% trained leadership by March 31, 2008. What is “trained leadership?” Completing the following:

Troop Leaders: Consider using our new Online Orientation to Girl Scouting, which consists of an overview of Girl Scout beliefs, its story, and its concern with the safety of the girls.
