WNC Area Women Leaders Celebrate Common History in Girl Scouting

March 21, 2006, Asheville, NC … Thirty women leaders in Western North Carolina gathered at the Renaissance Hotel on Tuesday, March 14, 2006 to show their support of the Girl Scouts.  Hoping to encourage today’s girls to fulfill their promise, the Girl Scouts of Western North Carolina Pisgah Council coordinated the gathering  to highlight  the important role Girl Scouting plays in developing girls of courage, confidence and character who make the world a better place.  Mayor Terry Bellamy proclaimed March 12-18 Girl Scout Week in Asheville as part of the Council’s celebration of the 94th anniversary of Girl Scouts.

All one-time Girl Scouts or Girl Scout volunteers, these WNC women hold leadership positions in fields ranging from business, education, and government, to social service, and the arts.  The Renaissance Hotel graciously hosted the gathering where this diverse group of leaders enjoyed tea, Girl Scout cookies and camaraderie while sharing stories about the impact Girl Scouting has had on their lives.

If you are a Girl Scout alum and would like to be included in future gatherings, please contact Susie Mamola, Membership & MarketingDirector for the Girl Scouts of WNC Pisgah Council at 828-252-4442 or e-mail her at smamola@girlscoutswnc.org.  We’d love to capture your Girl Scouting story for our Council.
