  • Safety-Wise
  • The Leader's Blue Book of Basic Documents
  • Guide to Uniforms and Insignia

These books are all made available to new leaders for planning troop activities. "National" also produces specialty program materials such as:

  • Focus on Ability,
  • Right to Read, and
  • some materials in Spanish.

Information on these specialty programs can be obtained from your Service Unit Manager, Field Executive, the GSUSA website and/or the GSWNCPC shop manager.

GSUSA also is responsible for producing our official uniforms and insignia. Leaders can obtain official uniforms for themselves and their troop, the appropriate age level insignia, and badges or patches as earned from the GSWNCPC Service Center shop, from the GSUSA online store, or through GSUSA mail-order catalogs which are distributed to both new and returning leaders.

In addition, GSUSA publishes Leader, a magazine mailed to each registered adult. Leader is a valuable resource, highlighting accomplishments of troops and girls around the US, previewing new program materials, and answering questions of general interest. An extensive website, with sections for both leaders and girls, is maintained by GSUSA. (www.girlscouts.org)

GSUSA also maintains two National Centers that offer programs and trainings for Girl Scout adults and youth. The Juliette Gordon Low Birthplace in Savannah, Georgia, offers programs for adults and girls. These programs are focused primarily on the historical aspects of Girl Scouting in the USA. Savannah and the Juliette Gordon Low Birthplace are frequent destinations for Girl Scouts across the US. And a copy of Birthplace Bound, containing travel support and program information, is available from GSUSA by e-mailing birthplace@girlscouts.org.

Edith Macy Conference center in Briarcliff Manor, NY, (very near NYC) is a Girl Scout Center that offers valuable training in various subjects for volunteers and staff. There is an occasional opportunity for older girls to attend training. A yearly catalog of trainings offered is downloadable from the GSUSA website. You may also contact the Training Department at the Girl Scout Service Center.
